I am the grandson of grandparents who were children during the Second World War.

I listened to their stories. I watched war films on television. I played with toy guns and wore a soldier’s hat.

When I was older, I visited Jersey on holiday with my family and fell in love with the island. I learnt about Jersey’s occupation by the Germans during the Second World War.

I wanted to write historical fiction for children to entice them into the fascinating world of history through storytelling.

So I wrote this book.
